By the end of this session, students should be able to:

Understanding the tourism system, recognising the destination as a competitive unit and being able to classify the individual tourism product in terms of its importance.

Recognising that success in tourism is not guaranteed per se and that it takes a great deal of effort to achieve it.

To classify sustainability as a central focus of tourism businesses and destinations.

To be able to describe ‘sustainability’ in its various dimensions, as well as to explain the positive and negative impacts of tourism.

To be able to name monitoring and certification systems and transfer criteria and indicators into the real world.

Being motivated to adapt what participants have heard and learned into their everyday life and personal travel behaviour.
